    Have it looked at

This is a sanity check, not a valuation. A quote outside the range is not automatically wrong — a difficult install genuinely costs more, and a yard clearing its books genuinely charges less. What matters is whether the reason for the difference is one you can see in the quote.

Installation Scope and Exclusions Behind a Low Quote

The three things most often missing from a low quote are the three that decide whether the system still works in five years. Before choosing on price, check that each is written down.

    Check A dedicated through-hull

Teeing into the engine intake is cheaper and starves one or the other under way. If the quote does not name a new skin fitting and seacock, ask where the water comes from.

    Check The electrician

Fixed 240 V wiring on a vessel is licensed work to AS/NZS 3004.2. A quote with no electrical line either excludes it — leaving you to arrange it — or is doing it improperly.

    Check Where the condensate goes

A 16k unit makes litres a day in a Queensland summer. To a sump or shower drain, on a gravity fall. "It'll go to the bilge" is not an answer.
