About Marine Air Conditioning
We’re Gabriel and Kristy, the couple behind Marine Air Conditioning and YouSail. We’re planning a life aboard, and sharing the questions we’re working through along the way.

Why We Built a Marine Air Conditioning Guide
Our dream is simple. Buy a sailing yacht, move aboard and see where the wind takes us. Australia first. Then the Pacific. Maybe much further.
We’re not there yet. We’re still learning, taking courses, spending time on boats and asking a lot of questions. One of those questions is how to make a boat comfortable enough to become a home.
How do you cool a sleeping cabin through an Australian summer? What changes at anchor when shore power is gone? How much space does a system need, and who can install or service it? Those questions led us to build Marine Air Conditioning.
It’s the guide we wanted ourselves: clear explanations, practical planning checklists and a connection to marine service providers. Start with how marine air conditioning works, then work through sizing, installation costs and the questions to ask before committing.
Gabriel and Kristy: Learning Towards Life Aboard
We’re not going to pretend we’re experienced liveaboards or marine air-conditioning technicians. We’re sailors in the making, learning as we go and sharing what we find.
Gabriel’s background is marketing and organising information. His work on this site is about making a complicated subject easier to understand, not presenting himself as a qualified installer. Read Gabriel Machuret’s story.
Somewhere out there is the yacht that will become our home. Planning for it means thinking about the ordinary things too: sleeping well, managing humidity, maintaining equipment and understanding the power available.
Where Our Guides and Provider Listings Come From
Our guides bring together manufacturer documentation, published resources and owner-planning questions. Product pages link to their sources. Sizing and cost calculators use disclosed assumptions; their outputs are planning estimates, not a design or a quote for your vessel.
Provider membership and contact details come from YouSail’s maintained directory. We do not create businesses or invent their qualifications, service areas or availability. Use the marine air conditioning provider directory, then confirm the exact work and location with the provider.
Our existing editorial process includes technical explanations reviewed for clarity by Mark Sanderer. Neither that review nor our own research replaces advice from an appropriately qualified professional who has inspected your boat. Read our editorial policy and advice limitations.
Share Your Marine Air Conditioning Experience
If you install or service marine cooling equipment, represent a marine brand, or have a documented boat project to share, we’d love to hear from you. We want practical information that helps the next owner ask better questions.
See what to include in a project contribution, or email gabriel@yousail.com.au. We ask before publishing submitted stories or identifying photographs.
