Checking Marine Air Conditioning Overboard Discharge
The short answer
Identify the correct discharge outlet and observe it during normal operation as described in the manual. Compare the flow with a known working baseline. Stop the system if discharge is absent or markedly reduced, and record the operating mode and any controller warning before arranging checks.
Checking Boat AC Overboard Discharge — Requirements and Limitations
An outlet may be difficult to see from the berth, and some systems have multiple outlets or different pump-control behaviour. Confirm the arrangement before drawing conclusions from the wrong fitting.
Visible discharge establishes that some water is moving; it does not measure adequate flow or prove the condenser is clean. Use the manufacturer’s specified checks or a technician’s flow assessment when performance remains poor.
