Where to Mount a Marine Air Conditioner
The short answer
Choose a dry, accessible location that meets the manufacturer’s airflow, drainage, mounting and service-clearance requirements. Consider noise at sleeping positions and the routes for ducts, power and seawater hoses. The seawater pump’s flooded-suction requirement does not mean the air-conditioning unit itself must sit below the waterline.
Where to Mount a Boat Air Conditioner — Requirements and Limitations
Record the proposed unit and grille positions before cabinetry work starts. Check filter removal and the route needed to remove the complete unit later; fitting through the hatch is only one part of the access problem.
A split installation may move compressor noise away from a berth, but it still needs suitable pipe runs and space for an air handler. Compare the complete arrangement, including condensate drainage and safe service access.
