Marine Air Conditioning Annual Service Checklist

Everything worth doing once a year, in the order a technician would do it. About half is owner work.

Marine Air Conditioning Annual Service Checklist: Schedule and Equipment

Marine air conditioning fails at the seawater side far more often than at the compressor. An annual pass catches the cheap problems before they become expensive ones, and gives you a baseline to compare against when something changes.

TimeHalf a day
ToolsBasic hand tools; a technician for the gas check
WhoOwner, plus a technician for the refrigerant side

Marine Air Conditioning Annual Service Checklist: Procedure

If you skip it: Nothing, for a while. Then everything at once, in January, when nobody has a service slot.

Record the date, what you found and any parts used in the boat's maintenance log. A repeat change—less water flow, faster fouling, a new smell or a breaker that trips again—is often more useful to a technician than a one-off reading. Check the current manual and official sources before changing the procedure, and stop at the licensed-work boundary described in the disclaimer.
