Marine Air Conditioning Winterisation Procedure

Fresh water through the loop, drain what will freeze, and leave the strainer bowl dry. Fifteen minutes that saves a pump.

Marine Air Conditioning Winterisation Procedure: Schedule and Equipment

Seawater left standing in a condenser for six months grows things and corrodes. In Tasmania and alpine areas there is a freezing risk as well, and a frozen condenser tube is a replaced condenser.

Marine Air Conditioning Winterisation Procedure: Procedure

If you skip it: A seized pump in spring, a fouled condenser, and in the cold states a split tube.

Record the date, what you found and any parts used in the boat's maintenance log. A repeat change—less water flow, faster fouling, a new smell or a breaker that trips again—is often more useful to a technician than a one-off reading. Check the current manual and official sources before changing the procedure, and stop at the licensed-work boundary described in the disclaimer.
