Marine Air Conditioning Pre-Purchase Survey Checklist
Air conditioning is rarely surveyed properly. Ten minutes of checks tells you whether you are buying a working system or a five-figure job.
Marine Air Conditioning Pre-Purchase Survey Checklist: Schedule and Equipment
A surveyor will note that a system is fitted. Whether it is fitted well, and whether it works, is usually left to you — and the difference is the price of a whole new installation.
Marine Air Conditioning Pre-Purchase Survey Checklist: Procedure
If you skip it: You buy a boat with an unusable system and discover it in the first summer.
Record the date, what you found and any parts used in the boat's maintenance log. A repeat change—less water flow, faster fouling, a new smell or a breaker that trips again—is often more useful to a technician than a one-off reading. Check the current manual and official sources before changing the procedure, and stop at the licensed-work boundary described in the disclaimer.
