Ducting: Marine Air Conditioning Definition

The insulated flexible tube carrying cooled air from the unit to the grilles.

Ducting in a Boat Air Conditioning System

Short runs, gentle bends, insulated, and return air larger than supply. Long crushed ducting is the usual reason a correctly sized unit "isn’t big enough", and it is a far more common cause of poor cooling than capacity. Bare uninsulated duct in a hot locker sweats and drips.

Using Ducting Specifications in Quotes and Manuals

Use this definition to understand a quote, manual or fault report—not as an instruction to modify the boat. Before buying, compare the wording against the current manufacturer documentation. For refrigerant, fixed 240 V wiring or below-waterline work, use the official licensing and standards sources and an appropriately qualified tradesperson.
