Marine Air Conditioning Wiring and Electrical Licences
The short answer
You do not — a licensed electrician does. Fixed 240 V wiring on a vessel falls under AS/NZS 3004.2, and it needs a dedicated circuit, an RCD and correctly rated cable. Budget $300–800 in materials plus three to six hours of licensed labour.
Boat AC Wiring and Electrical Licences — Requirements and Limitations
A quote may legitimately exclude the electrical work on the assumption you will arrange your own electrician. One that neither includes nor excludes it is the one to worry about, because it usually means nobody has thought about it.
The refrigerant side is separately licensed: anyone charging or recovering refrigerant needs an ARCtick licence under the Ozone Protection regulations. Two different licences, two different tradespeople, and both worth asking to see.
